Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the immediate past Managing Director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Oyebamiji emerged at the end of the party’s governorship primary held on Saturday in Osogbo, where he received overwhelming support from party delegates.
Oyebamiji was unanimously affirmed by the 1,660 accredited delegates after being nominated by a former governorship aspirant, Mr. Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and seconded by another aspirant, Senator Babajide Omoworare.
Announcing the outcome, Adegoke said the affirmation followed the decision of the APC National Working Committee, adding that all other aspirants had stepped down in the interest of party unity.
“I, Kunle Adegoke, with the consent of all other aspirants, move the motion that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji be adopted as the consensus candidate to contest the 2026 governorship election,” he said.
The Chairman of the APC primary election committee and Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, thereafter called for a voice vote, which saw all delegates affirm Oyebamiji’s candidacy.
“By the power conferred on me as Chairman of the primary committee, I hereby declare Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, as the candidate of our party,” Okpebholo announced.
The development marks a major step in the APC’s preparations ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
